Entry Requirements

In accordance with the licensing provisions granted by the NYSED:BPSS, the following minimum admission requirements apply to all students who are considering attending our schools:

1. The student must demonstrate an interest in this type of training.
2. The student must have at least a high school diploma or GED (VESID clients can apply for the ATB exemption with an average composite Math and Reading score in excess of the 8th grade minimum.)
3. The student must have a valid Driver's License or Permit. (Students can enroll under the condition that a permit will be obtained before graduation.)
4. The student must be able to distinguish color-coding in electrical schematics, technical service manuals and electronic components.
5 The student must have manual dexterity with good hand-to-eye coordination.
6. The student must be able to converse verbally in English.
7. The student must be able to lift at least 20 pounds, and bend for extended periods.

In order to meet the minimum entry-level job qualifications due to special job needs and conditions, specific courses offered at this school may have additional admission requirements as follows:

Electronic Office Equipment/Photocopier Repair Program – 630 Clock Hours
1. Ability to climb stairs while carrying tools and equipment.
2. Ability to distinguish between colors
Telecommunications Technician Program – 630 clock Hours
1. Ability to distinguish un-amplified tones of varying frequencies using normal telephone equipment.
2. Ability to climb and carry tools and equipment up ladders to a minimum height of 20 feet.
3. Ability to distinguish between colors
Electricians Helper Training Program – 630 Clock Hours 1. Ability to climb and carry tools and equipment up ladders to a minimum height of 20 feet.
2. Ability to distinguish between colors
Plumbing Helper Training Program – 630 Clock Hours
1. Ability to climb and carry tools and equipment up ladders to a minimum height of 20 feet.
Building Maintenance Training Program – 630 Clock Hours
1. Ability to climb and carry tools and equipment up ladders to a minimum height of 20 feet.
Certified Fiber Optic Training Program* – 40 Clock Hours
1. Students must be either graduates of the QBITTI Telecommunications Technician Program, or have 3 years previous Telecommunications experience or training.
