Students are expected to attend each class every day on time, throughout the day. We will allow students to make up missed class time before and after normal class hours.
Trainees will participate six hours per day, Monday through Friday with one hour for lunch. Daily attendance is required and will be recorded by the instructor. It is expected that your attendance and punctuality record will meet all minimum requirements for this training program.
Classes/First Period begins at 9:00am, and Fourth(last) period ends at 4:00pm.
1st Period - 9:00am to 10:20am
2nd Period - 10:30 am to 12:00pm
3rd Period - 1:00pm to 2:20pm
4th Period - 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm
In order to graduate from QBITTI a student must successfully complete several graduation criteria including but not limited to documentation, finances, eligibility etc. However, the two most important graduation requirements involve academic performance and training hour accumulation. Students must pass all of their required training modules, and complete all of their assigned training hours.Make-Up Time deals with any discrepancies between the academic and training hours accumulation requirement.
Make-Up Time – is defined as the deficit amount of classroom training hours derived from subtracting the total number of classroom training hours completed by a student from their actual scheduled hours at a specific point in time. The calculation is below:
Training schedule hours(-)Actual training hours completed(=) Make-Up Time total to dateby the student to date owed by student
Make-Up Time is accumulated for many reasons, like snow days and class cancellations, but the vast majority of make-up time is created by student absenteeism and lateness.Students must meet both their academic and classroom training hour requirements to be in accordance with QBITTIs’ standards of progress policies, and to subsequently be eligible for graduation. When either of these two requirements is disrupted, make-up time is usually the result.
There are two types of Make-Up Time modules. The first type of Make-Up Time module occurs when a student must take a specific training module that is out of sequence with their normal schedule. When students enroll they receive a schedule which lists all of their training modules (6) in order with no lapses in time. When this schedule is disrupted while in sequence a Make-Up Time module may become necessary. The second type of Make-Up Time module occurs when a student completes his or her academic graduation requirement, but has not completed the associated training hour requirement on schedule, and as a result, has accumulated a deficit training hour balance.
The following is an example of the first type of Make-Up Time module.Student Xs’ next academic module starts on a date other than the next training day after completion of the students’ current training module, and the student has a total training hour deficit greater than 30 hours. In this example the make-up time module would occur between the end date of the current module, and the start date of the next required academic module.(Please note that the time span for a Make-Up Time module can sometimes be longer than the normal 3˝ week duration of a single training module.)Here are a few more examples of student situations that would create a Make-Up Time module:
Example1:As of the end date of his fourth academic module, Student X has accumulated 375 classroom hours. What is his current make-up time requirement? 4 modules x 105H/module(-)Student hours accumulated(=)Make-Up Time Owed 420H(-)375H(=)45 H Because student X has accumulated more than 30 make-up hours he would have to complete a Make-Up Time module between his last and his next academic requirement training modules.
Example 2:As of the end date of his sixth and last academic module, Student X has accumulated 575 classroom hours. What is his make-up time requirement? 6 modules x 105H/module(-)Student hours accumulated(=)Make-Up Time Owed 630H(-)575H(=)55 H Because student X is short 55 hours towards his graduation requirement he would have to complete a Make-Up Time module immediately following his last academic module.
In each example a make-up time module would automatically begin for the student the next training day after completing their last academic module, and would continue until the make-up time requirement is completed. As a result, make-up time modules vary in length from as little as one hour to a total that could potentially be greater than the standard 105 training hour module length.Regardless of the length, the make-up time module is considered as one regular training module, and is subject to all of the normal rules and regulations except for the following changes:
Students are required to complete all lab/classroom assignments during this make-up time, even if these assignments were completed in the past.It is our policy that one can never get enough hands-on practice.
Students will have the option of retaking their mid-term and final exams in the specific training module that they are attending. If they achieve a higher grade, we will use the higher grade to determine their final grade point averages. (Students must attend exam days regardless of their choice to retake the test.)
Students who are absent for more than 30 training hours in the make-up module will automatically be suspended from training for a minimum of thirty days.
Students suspended during the make-up time module must not only serve their entire suspension, but also successfully participate in a re-entry case conference before returning to class.
Students who are not actively participating in class during the make-up time module will not be credited for the class hours, and as a result, will be charged absence time.
Remember, it is the students’ responsibility to make-up time prior to graduation.Though some absenteeism is unavoidable, our flexible scheduling allows our students many opportunities to bank hours against losses due to absenteeism and lateness. Please take advantage of these opportunities to avoid amassing a training hour deficit at the completion of your academic requirements. However, if you need to complete a make-up time module take advantage of the opportunity by practicing your hands-on skills, and even attempting more challenging projects than normally completed in class.
