QBITTI offers a number of professional certifications that are recognized both nationwide, and in some cases, internationally. Professional or Trade certifications are specific designations earned by individuals to assure qualification to perform a job or task. In general, certifications must be renewed periodically, and most certification programs are created, sponsored or affiliated with professional, trade or IT organizations. The various certifications offered by QBITTI are all approved by the New York State Education Department, and are affiliated with organizations like Microsoft, The Fiber Optic Association, OSHA, The FDNY and many others.
In today's economy a person's skill set is almost as important to a future employer as their overall job experience. Certifications are the way most employers look to verify specific skills in their new hires, and QBITTI is leading the way in offering industry specific certifications in high demand occupations.
The followiing narrative lists the many certifications avaialble from QBITTI at this time. Please note that some certifications, like the OSHA 10 Hour and CPCT, can be acquired by taking any one of a number of different courses.
Our school is licensed by the New York State Education Department's Bureau of Proprietary Schools Supervison (NYSED:BPSS), as an adult vocational training school. As a result, all of our training courses, facilities and staff are approved by NYSED:BPSS. Most importantly, graduates of our courses are entitled to receive a certificate of completion in the major of his or her choice. Our certificate programs are nationally recognized, and in many cases, may also come with additional internationally recognized industry specific certifications.
The OSHA 10 Hour is our most popular certification, and teaches our students basic safety concepts on consruction sites. NYC recently passed legislation that requires all personnel to have this certification before entering an active construction site . QBITTI offers this course weeknights, weekdays and weekends. Weekday training takes place during our regularly scheduled DMS-101 courses, and the cost of this training is free to all of our full-time matriculated students. The Certified Fiber Optic (CFOT) course is a 300 level training module that teaches our students to install, repair and upgrade various fiber optic systems with an emphasis on fusion splicing and cable termination. The CFOT course is affiliated with the Fiber Optic Association (FOA), an internatoinally recognized organization that sets standards and practices for the Telecommunications and Fiber Optic industries, and this is there first level of certification. The Certified Premises Cable Technician (CPCT) certification is provided to all of our Telecommunications and Electricians Helper graduates as an add-on certification. The course is taught as part of our regular curricula for each of these majors, and our graduates are given the opportunity to test for this certification once they graduate. Again the training is free to all full-time members of these two majors, however, there is a $30 fees for the actual card provided by the FOA. The CPCT course is affiliated with the Fiber Optic Association, an internatoinally recognized organization that sets standards and practices for the Telecommunications and Fiber Optic industries
Students participating in the Building Maintenance Training Program are routinely recommended to the FDNY for the P-99 - Low Pressure Oil Boiler Certificate of Fitness. Students recommended for this certification must meet certain academic qualifications, attend a FDNY training session, and pass the FDNY administered test inorder to receive this certification.
Students participating in the Plumber's Helper Training Program are routinely recommended to the FDNY for the G-95 -Torch Use of Flammable Gases Certificate of Fitness. Students recommended for this certification must meet certain academic qualifications, attend a FDNY training session, and pass the FDNY administered test inorder to receive this certification.
Students who are taking either the Electronic/Photocopier Repair or Telecommunications Technician Training Programs are eleigible to take the A+ CertificationTeast as part of our regularly scheduled BCS-101 course. This certification is pending, and will be available to our students in the near future.
